An official visit by the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Mussa Daniel Budeba accompanied by Mr. Maruvuko Msechu , Acting Director of Geological Services Directorate and Manager of applied Geology. The Visit had the aim of the new CEO of GST to get familiarization with the AMGC activities, as well as looking for the possibility of attaching some GST technical staff to the AMGC modern facilities for practical training. In addition, the visit had the aim of establishing the MoU between the two Institutes for the mutual benefits of both parties.
Ceremony for issuance of Certificate for ISO 9001:2015 Standard, Certificate TZ20/90372 following the successful assessment and certification of the Management System of African Minerals and Geosciences Centre (AMGC) in the activities namely: Laboratory services, research and development on industrial minerals and gemstone, generation, collection, processing and dissemination of geo-information, specialized training and production of ceramics. The event took place at AMGC premises on 02 June 2020 and was officiated by Ms. Honorata Rutihinda from SGS Tanzania Superintendance Co. Ltd. Ms. Honorata is working in the Certification and Business Enhancement Department.
On 5th February 2020, the Centre was honored by a courtesy visit from H.E. the newly assigned German Ambassador to Tanzania Mrs. Regine Hess, who familiarized herself with the spectrum of mineral services provided by the AMGC including the services of the Analytical Finger Printing (AFP) Laboratory for analysis of conflict Minerals in the African Great Lakes Region.
AMGC Director General Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad paid a courtesy visit to Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development of Uganda. Mr. Shaddad met Excellences Hon. Dr. Kitutu Kimono, the Cabinet Minister and Hon. Sara A. Opendi, State Minister. The meeting was attended by Mr. Baguma Zachary, the Director General of Geological Survey of Uganda.

AMGC Director General Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad Participated in the 5th Annual Sudan International Mining Business Forum & Exhibition (SIMFE 2020) held from 18th to 20th February 2020 in Khartoum, SUDAN.
On February 27, 2020, AMGC received Mr. ASSINADI ANLI, Director General of Geological Bureau of Comoros. While at the Centre, he visited all the departments and got in-depth explanation on various services offered by AMGC including mineral testing, training, consultancy, research and value addition for industrial minerals and gemstone.
AMGC participated in the 2-days Tanzania Mineral and Mining Investment Conference 2020 - Sustainable Investment and Partnership from 22-23 February 2020 conducted at Julius Nyerere International Convention Conference Centre (JNICCC), Dar es Salaam.
Hon. Dotto Biteko, the Minister for Minerals, Tanzania 🇹🇿, the host country of AMGC was the guest of honor and delivered a welcome speech in the PanAfGeo Final Meeting which took place on 24-25 October 2019 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at Ledger Plaza Bahari Beach.

Hon. John Munyes Kiyong’a, the Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Petroleum and Mining, Kenya and the Chairman of the Governing Council of African Minerals & Geosciences Centre (AMGC) paid a familiarize visit to the Centre on 25th October 2019. The Hon. Minister Munyes was accompanied by two top officials who are Mr. Thomas Ndola, the Director of Geological Survey, who is representing Kenya in AMGC’s Board of Directors and Mr. Josphat Wanjogu, the AMGC’ s Desk Officer in the Ministry of the State Department of Mining, Kenya.

A courtesy meeting between AMGC Director General, Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad and H.E. Dr. Samuel Hurkato, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Mr. Hundie Melka Yadete, the delegated Director General of the Geological Survey of Ethiopia (GSE) attended the meeting (picture on the top). Furthermore, Mr. Shaddad had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Assefa Kumsa, the State Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Ethiopia (lower picture) both meetings were held at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 14th May 2019. Excellences the Minister and the State Minister were briefed regarding the activities of the African Minerals & Geosciences Center (AMGC), recent development and challenges facing the Centre. A number of issues were deliberated to enhance the beneficiation of Ethiopia from the mineral services provided by the Centre.
AMGC Director General, Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad participated in the AMDC Business Plan Review Meeting held in Conakry Guinea from 27 to 31 May 2019. The meeting was between AUC delegation and Government of Guinea and it was addressed by H.E. the Minister of Mines & Geology of Guinea.
A courtesy meeting between AMGC’s Director General, Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad and H.E. Ambassador Albert Muchanga, the Commissioner for Trade and Industry including Mining (AUC) of the African Union. The meeting was attended by Dr. Hussein Hassan Hussein, the Acting Director of Trade and Industry including Mining, Head of Industry Division and Mr. Paul Msoma, the Economic Affairs Officer in Mineral Sector Governance. Issues were deliberated to enhance the working relationship between the AMGC and AUC in implementation of the African Mining Vision (AMV) endorsed by the African Head of States for a better scio-economic development of the mining sector in Africa.
On 3rd May 2019 AMGC was visited by 30 employees from the Military Automotive Technology Centre (TATC-Nyumbu), the Government Institution located at Kibaha area, Pwani. The TATC-Nyumbu core function is research activities and foundry technology inclusive. The visit to AMGC is part of exchanging knowledge and skills on metallurgy science and other functions.
